Let’s christen this new blog transfer with a hot giveaway!!!

I’m a big fan of babywearing, as I have mentioned in the past, and I am always excited to discover and try out new carriers.  While I was at the ABC Kids Expo this past September, I had a chance to get my hands on several products that I had never had the chance to see in person before.  (It was freaking awesome!)  One of those products was the Butterfly 2 baby carrier from Beco.

When I first walked up to the Beco display, the very first thing I noticed were the fabulous prints!  Lots of children’s product companies use the same fabrics, and while there are many I love, it was so exciting to see something truly new!  I cannot tell you how hard it was to choose a print for the carrier I reviewed.  It was like trying to choose your favorite child -pretty much impossible, and a genius marketing move if you ask me.  I ended up with Nova, but ohhh how I love those robots!

I was thrilled when the Butterfly 2 arrived in the mail.  I couldn’t wait to get it out and really check out the features.  Though similar, this carrier is different than any of the carriers I have tried before because it includes an inner butterfly fabric panel (Y-shaped) between baby and you.  As a result it has different straps, buckles and settings than the carriers that I am use to.  To be honest, it was a little confusing at first, but I got the hang of it quickly and discovered that while it took a few more adjustments, once I had them made I didn’t need to set them again, which is very convenient for getting it on and off quickly.

I really love the overall design of the Beco Butterfly 2.  The 100% organic cotton fabric is sturdy but soft and not bulky and heavy, which is a huge plus.  The carrier has a very trim design that still allows for full coverage and I love that this carrier does not allow for forward facing.  I am in the group of babywearers that don’t like forward facing carries.  While they ‘can’ be done properly, most carriers do not provide the proper support for this to be beneficial and good for baby.  I like that this carrier eliminates that as an option.  The design of the carrier also makes it ideal for back carries.  The internal panel makes sliding the carrier, and baby, to your back a breeze.

The Basics

Overall I really love this carrier.  It did take some time to get use to the inner Y panel and strap settings, but once I got the straps where I felt most comfortable it was a non-issue.  The Beco Butterfly 2 is quite comfortable and the style can’t be beat.  I have no idea how customers pick just one!  Also the fact that this carrier can be used with infants makes this a great value, as some other carriers require the purchase of additional inserts or an entirely different carrier until the baby has enough neck strength.

For a closer look at the Butterfly 2 from Beco, I am including a video review.  If you have any questions that I didn’t cover, please leave a comment below or on the video and I will be sure to get your questions answered.

Now that you’re craving one of these hot prints, here is your chance to enter to win a Beco Butterfly 2!

  1. I love the owls, they are adorable and my husband wouldn’t mind wearing the baby in that carrier either.

  2. Even though I finally have an excuse to buy a girly carrier, how could I possibly say no to robots?!?

  3. I love this carrier! I love that you can do it all by yourself and it looks easy enough to maneuver. The carrier that I am currently using is a two-person jobber as it is hard to fasten up on the back. I sure would love have one! Love, love, love this!

  4. I love all the prints! I have the foxie on my Gemini, but I adore the owls…and the robots…and the cars…

  5. I Love the robot print! I was not a big fan of carriers with my son due to confusion but this seems like it would be a great way to start things of with the second one! 🙂

  6. Love the Nova print, and the owl print too! My DH much prefers carriers over wraps, so I guess this would be his!

  7. The foxie black print is just adorable! I LOVE babywearing, and have been looking for something for my husband to use that’s safe for baby and still masculine. I think the Beco Carrier would work nicely for us!

  8. Awesome review! The video was really helpful in understanding how the butterfly fits. Love all the cute prints!

  9. Love the Foxie Black! My toddler has become increasingly clingy lately with teething – this would be a good option for us!

  10. I love the prints. I would love to win one and pass it to my pregnant sister. She is due with her first baby and is a nanny for two little girls. Between the three little ones, she would get lots of use out of it!

  11. Thanks so much for your review!! I was planning on buying one of these with my tax return – love the Nova print 🙂 I have a number of carriers – a wrap, a ring sling, a mei tai and a Boba….I love them all for various reasons, but my Boba is my favorite for quick trips where we will be in and out of the car several times. Only problem with it is the cold weather here…..I like to tuck my LO inside my coat, when I do that with the Boba, I have to take my coat on and off every time I need to get her in and out – I was looking at the Butterfly because it has the external panel with the clips. I could still wear her under my coat and not have to take my coat off to get her in and out!!

  12. I just love this! Looks like it would be so cumfy for my baby. All the prints are so cute but I love the owl print.

  13. I too love the robots, but I just can’t get past Sierra Espresso – absolutely beautiful!

  14. I honestly like Espresso the best. How boring is that? If I had to choose a print I think Sierra would be my first choice. 😛

  15. Cars! My son and DF loves cars and totally need a new carrier. =) DF is over the ring sling and would love a SSC.

  16. I love the piper black! I will have to keep these in mind for my next baby! The hubby and I are going to try after the 1st of next year! I’m so excited!

  17. I love the Owl print – so cute! I’m looking for a new carrier since we do a lot of traveling with our 3 year old and toddler. Good carriers are a must! Looks like it has some great features. I would love to have one of these. 🙂

  18. Oh I love this! I really need a carrier that has a waist belt to use with my 4 month old chubster. I LOVE the brown owl print!
