4. If you want to be even more economical you can go with flats…cottonbabies.com has dozen for 19.99 you can do 3 dozen and get 4 cheap covers like bummis lite wrap (10.00 each) or proraps (7.00 each). You could diaper a newborn for less than 100.00 and your flats can grow with the baby.

5. I am going to share this with my sister. She's due in June 2012 and has decided to do cloth diapers like us. I told her she can use whatever our little girl has outgrown but I think she'll really appreciate seeing the pics of the diapers and the babies to choose a system(s) that works for their budget and looks like they want too!

13. I’m stumbling across this post late, the Nanipoo and Patooshie Pants stores aren’t available anymore 🙁 Any idea how to find them, or have similar comparisons?

    1. I know, it’s so disappointing – especially the Nanipoos. There are lots of great WAHM fitted diapers. I would try looking on Etsy or Hyena Cart.

16. Thank you for this! We didn’t start cloth diapering my daughter until she was about 7 months (when we moved we finally got a w/d in our apartment). Now that I’m expecting #2, I’m feeling a little lost on cloth diapering her, but this post really helped.

17. While I was waiting for my newborn stash to arrive from Giving Diapers Giving Hope, I made a couple of “t-shirt” style no-sew flats using the legs of some old cotton lounge pants. They turned out similar to the design of the Thirsties “prefold” style, making them quick drying, very soft and absorbent – they’ve turned out to be some of my favorite to use and fit great!
