I don’t know about your children, but ours certainly don’t need more single use toys – or piles of candy and sugar coated marshmallow shaped “treats”. Easter comes around each year and the children love it, but it requires me to think outside of the candy aisle to give them the fun they are looking for with the qualities that us parents can approve of. Below are a few ideas to get you started.
When you are done browsing these ideas be sure to continue reading at the bottom of this post where you can enter to win a cloth diaper bundle valued at $75 courtesy of Kelly’s Closet! This is a fun multi-blog event where each blogger has hidden an Easter egg that will help you win the grand prize. Can you guess where mine is? Keep reading and you just might find out!
Candy-Free Easter Basket Ideas
1) Jellystone Designs JChew Smart Phone Teether
These adorable silicone teethers are great for little ones who still like to put things in their mouths. They’re made in several bright colors to match any basket theme!
2) Planet Wise Zippered Sandwich Bags
Reusable sandwich bags like these are great for kids of all ages to tote snacks (fill with your favorites for Easter) and even toys! These handy zippered bags come in a wide range of patterns to suit children of any age.
3) Reusable Food Pouches!
We want to include yummy goodies in our baskets, but pretty much all of it comes in disposable packaging. Why not think outside of the trash bin with these adorable, reusable food pouches!
4) BabyLegs
Designed to match your favorite Cotton Babies products, these BabyLegs will help protect your little one while crawling around – and they make diaper changes a breeze. These soft and stretchy design fits most babies up to age two, and they happen to be super adorable too!
5) Episencial Peaceful Bubbles
Bubbles! Who doesn’t love bubbles? This natural bath product is a money saving 3-in-1 bubble bath, shampoo and body wash! It features more than 70% organic ingredients like avocado oil, aloe, calendula, lavender and more!
6) Honeysticks Beeswax Crayons
These are featured in the Spring issue of Green Child Magazine and I just love them! They are chunky for little hands, all natural (no paraffin!) and virtually unbreakable.
7) Naturally Dyed Eggs
Last but not least, what would Easter be without eggs? While not as flashy (or fast) as artificial dyes, these natural dyes are a much safer option for your little ones and will produce perfectly pretty colors that your little ones will enjoy.
What are some of your favorite non-candy basket fillers?

BG in Grasshopper!
Love my gDiapers but would love to try a bumGenius Freetime All-In-One One-Size Cloth Diaper in the Zinnia or Albert!
Although we are involuntarily childless, I love putting together Easter baskets for the kids at church. I try to avoid candy in the baskets altogether (I save that for the egg hunt, so sugary sweets are associated with excercise) and go with “stuff to keep them busy during the worship service” and “stuff to get them outdoors and moving.” The first category includes books, art supplies, note pads, puzzles, and healthy snacks such as applesauce (I tried prunes, but most of the kids declared they were too much like raisins). In the second category, I search out child-sized sunglasses, inflatable balls (because they can’t play with them during the service, but will later), sidewalk chalk, jump ropes, sun hats or visors, paddle-ball or ball-in-cup games, velcro catch sets, badminton rackets, etc. Younger kids also usually get a soft toy, and one year I embroidered butterflies on baby washcloths for the tiniest ones (I had too much time on my hands, that year).
Planet wise zipper bags are on my list!
I love our Planet Wise reusable snack bags!
I don’t have a baby yet, but I think a Twilight BG would be adorable for easter.
I would love to try the reusable snack bags! This our first easter so not sure what we will do in the basket yet… We always had candy, but I don’t want that for our LO
Bloom or mirror
Yay! I found the egg! Those beeswax crayons sound wonderful. We have a lot of broken ones around here and I have a little one who likes to eat them!
Zinnia or Sassy would match the Easter dress but that Lovelace is pretty darn cute too!
Probably his bumgenius mirror diaper. I wish there were more boy prints!
DD is potty training, so now I’m looking at those colorful BG, TotsBots, Grovia, Thirsties etc etc diapers folded up in the drawer, only to be used for naps and night time! That said, our BG sweet was a good all around springtime color diaper. If we win I’m going to divvy up the prize with my new mom friends as I’m always trying to help get other moms on the CD bandwagon 🙂
My vote is for buttercup!
What wonderful ideas for an alternative basket.
I’ve put cute headbands in my little ones Easter basket 🙂
Those planet wise bags are on my must list!
We have a nearly 1 year old, so we haven’t made one yet. I think we’ll try a “Spring Basket” instead of an easter basket. I’ve been looking into the “Rock” like crayons, but the honey sticks are pretty cool too!
I’m not sure what his spring outfit will be yet, but his favorite is his Robot patterned one!
Sassy!
She has a purple best bottoms diaper to match her purple dress.
B.G. Elemental in Sassy
Cute!
I love crayons, not sure my kids are near as thrilled with them as I am though. A movie, a kite, a new hat (if that’s their thing).
I love to make my kiddos’ Easter baskets! I like putting spring and summer items and art supplies in their baskets. My youngest will be getting teething toys and cloth diapering items.
a grasshopper Bumgenius
Grasshopper BG for sure snaps are my favorite

I love the non edible suggestions. although we do buy a few treats (organic, fair trade), we pick items like fun bubble bath, sun hat, and seeds to fill their baskets…
Thirsties in Pink
I like giving art supplies. Those definitely get used at our house.
Something pink. 🙂
I don’t know how I’m not seeing your egg… The clue seems pretty obvious but I don’t see it where I think it should be! Can you help me….
